Digital Transformation Pilot Improves Hospital Processes at Bulgaria’s National Hematology Hospital
Medical News covered the presentation of a hospital process optimization pilot project during the seminar “Oncohematological Diseases through the Perspective of the Future National Cancer Plan and Opportunities for Innovative Treatment.”
The project and its results were presented by hematologist Dr. Vera Stoeva and Yordan Iliev, Co-founder and CEO of MY Synergy. They shared how digitalization and process optimization were applied at the Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment of Hematologic Diseases to improve the patient journey and streamline key clinical and administrative processes.
The goal of digitalization is to improve doctors’ work and, where possible, reduce the amount of paperwork. This, in turn, shortens the patient journey by reducing the time patients spend in non-medical units.
Dr. Vera Stoeva
The pilot demonstrated measurable improvements, including a 35% reduction in the patient journey within the hospital, a 70% reduction in the time required for blood transfusion processes, a 40–60% reduction in treatment assignment time, and nearly 80% faster laboratory processes.
What we did was collect feedback from doctors and patients and ‘measure’ the patient journey with the help of technology.
